Bio : –
I am an experienced wellbeing consultant, having worked with organisations of all sizes from small IT training and design companies to universities and government departments employing thousands of staff. I write extensively on the subject of corporate wellness and have been published in the likes of Occupational Health, Personnel Today and HR Zone. I also wrote and delivered the first corporate wellness course for personal trainers to be endorsed by Skillsactive (the sector skills council for health and fitness) and designed qualifications and training materials for the RSPH for a number of years. I assessed the government’s Workplace Wellbeing Charter for five years. In 2021 I was a topic expert committee member for NICE on the Mental Wellbeing at Work guidelines.
I was proud to be a finalist in the 2009 Manchester Entrepreneur of the Year awards. I sat on the strategic advisory board of Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, and am a fellow of the RSPH. I am a past Chair of the North West Health and Physical Activity Forum. I won third prize at the 2nd International Conference on Wellbeing at Work for my presentation entitled, “Building Wellness from Within” and presented an oral paper and a poster at the 3rd Conference in Copenhagen in 2014.
Professionally, my mission is to make wellness a norm in the workplace. There are so many ways in which we can do things with wellness in mind- often at little or no cost. This way we can build a productive and motivated workforce to take us round the corner and into the upturn after recession.
The first personal trainer in Manchester to be recognised at level 4 by Skillsactive (REPS), I continue to update my knowledge of personal training and maintain an small, exclusive client base. I have completed 2 Ironman triathlons, and in 2011 ran a 32 hour non-stop off road race from Glasgow to Fort William over 95 miles of brutal terrain. The next year I repeated the race in 26 hours.
